A New Pavilion for Marby

Background

This page is to keep members informed of the activities and progress in our quest to get a new pavilion/clubrooms.

The current pavilion was renovated in 2009, since then our club has grown significantly particularly with the growth in junior football and girls/women's football. In addition the introduction and growth of female football has meant our pavilion is no longer fit for purpose and lacks a number of key facilities to support female football. The same can be said for our co-tenants the Maribyrnong Park St Mary's Cricket Club (MPSMCC), their junior & female programs have experienced similar growth. In fact many of our members play both football & cricket at 'Marby'.

As of May 2020 MVCC have allocated a $500,000 budget to complete a Detailed Design for a new pavilion to serve not only the Maribyrnong Park Football Club but also Maribyrnong Park St Mary's Cricket Club and other local community groups. The FY23 MVCC budget will voted upon on June 8, we expect the $500K budget provision to be ratified and work on the Detailed Design to commence after July 1.

In a Meeting

Advisory Group

We recognise both the football & cricket club membership base has a wealth of expertise and experience that can assist in this important and vital project. We are asking members of either club to nominate themselves to the Advisory Group. Members can contribute to the Advisory Group as & when needed, it is not intended to be an arduous ongoing commitment. Your areas of relevant expertise might include construction, funding grant submissions, council liaison in the area of community sport, architecture and design or other similar areas.

We envisage the Advisory Group to contribute to meetings called by the Sub Committee as and when needed as the project evolves and progresses.

To express your interest in helping our Sub Committee we ask you send an email to pavilion_project@marbylions.com.au
